Arkansas State University Staff Senate met on September 16, 1999 at 9:00 a.m.

I. Call to order: The meeting was called to order by President-Elect Carol Barnhill at 9:02 a.m.
II. Minutes: The minutes from the August 19, 1999 meeting were reviewed and approved as read. Motion: Senator Southard/Second: Senator McCoy.
III. Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Jackie McDaniel reported budget balance as of the last meeting to have been $1593.50. An invoice for the Staff Senate name tags has since been paid, now leaving a balance of $1557.50. Motion: Senator Counce/Second: Senator Meyer.
IV. Committee Reports:
- Homecoming Committee: Senator
Southard reported the committee will be having a Hospitality tent on Thursday
- Oct. 14 from 3 pm-11 pm. There will also be a tailgate party
on Oct. 16 beginning at 1 pm. Anyone wishing to volunteer to serve
at the Hospitality table or help with the tailgate party, please contact
either Sue Southard or Danny Faulk.
- Calendar Committee - Senator White submitted a 1999-2000 calendar listing upcoming events.
- Day Care Committee- There will be an upcoming survey sent out to students in selected courses to obtain their opinions regarding a day care facility. If anyone would like to help in conducting the surveys, please contact Tammy Fowler at tlfowler@chickasaw.
V. Parking Tags IX Stickers: President-Elect Carol Barnhill informed the senate that she had attended the most recent Parking Committee meeting and it was decided to table the discussions until the next meeting, which is scheduled for September 22, 1999 at 2:30 p.m.
VI. State Staff Senate Report: President-Elect Carol Barnhill reported the next meeting will be October 1, 1999 in Little Rock and anyone wishing to attend please contact Carol (2028). If there is enough interest, group transportation may be arranged.
VII. General Assembly: President-Elect Carol Barnhill reported the tentative date is now changed to possibly the week of Homecoming to coordinate with President Wyatt and the Vice Presidents. Please contact Tammy Fowler with any suggestions.
VIII. New Business:
- CLIP Program- Dr. Mason informed
the senate that the CLIP program was presented during the September 15th
- State Legislative Meeting. The CLIP program discussions were tabled
until the Personnel Committee could modify the proposal allowing the State
more control of personnel changes.
- Health Insurance- Dr. Mason also discussed the possibility of a health insurance premium increase due to the high usage.
- It was proposed to the senate to research the possibility of Continuing Education classes being offered in conjunction with payroll deductions.
- Human Resources Benefits Fair- Pam Davis, Human Resources Manager informed the senate of the upcoming Benefits Fair. It will be held in the Reng Center Ballroom on Oct. 21 from 9 am-3 pm. Everyone is welcomed to stop by and visit all the booths. There will be door prizes and plenty of benefit options to explore.
-Next Meeting: Due to the Human Resources Benefits Fair being on the same day as the next Staff Senate Meeting, a motion was made by Senator Hicks and seconded by Senator McDaniel to change the next Staff Senate Meeting to Wednesday, October 20, 1999.
